Ingredients

The Chicken

  • 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • ¾ cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 large eggs

The Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 7 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon grated white onion
  • 1 tablespoon Gochujang
  • 2 green onions minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400ºF.
  2. Mix cornstarch with garlic powder, salt, ginger, and 1 tablespoon sesame seeds in a bowl.
  3. Whisk eggs in a separate bowl.
  4. Cut chicken into 1-1.5 inch pieces and coat with the egg mixture, then the cornstarch mixture.
  5. Spray the air fryer with cooking spray and add the chicken in a single layer.
  6. Drizzle chicken with sesame oil and air fry for 10 minutes, then flip and cook for another 6 minutes.
  7. In a saucepan, heat remaining sesame oil and sauté garlic for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add soy sauce, water, honey, fish sauce, vinegar, grated onion, and Gochujang to the pan and whisk together.
  9. Bring the sauce to a boil, then simmer on low for 5 minutes.
  10. Thicken the sauce by whisking cornstarch with a portion of the sauce and adding it back to the pan.
  11. Toss the cooked chicken in the sauce until well coated, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve.
