Ingredients

The truffle mixture

  • 8 ounces quality chocolate, very finely chopped
  • cup heavy cream
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, softened (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)

Toppings

  • to taste unsweetened cocoa powder
  • to taste sprinkles
  • to taste crushed nuts
  • to taste melted or tempered chocolate

Instructions

  1. Place the chocolate in a heat-proof bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat the heavy cream until it simmers, then add it to the chocolate along with the butter, if using.
  3. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes before stirring until the chocolate is completely melted.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours until set.
  5. Scoop the mixture into mounds and roll into balls, then coat in desired toppings.
