Ingredients

The Wine Base

  • 1 bottle Merlot
  • cup Brandy

Fruits

  • 2 large Oranges
  • ½ cup Fresh Cranberries

Sweeteners and Spices

  • 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup
  • 2 sticks Cinnamon
  • 4 pieces Star Anise
  • 4 whole Cloves

Instructions

  1. Slice one orange in half and cut the second orange into slices.
  2. Heat a large pot on low-medium heat.
  3. Add the orange slices and squeeze the juice from the orange halves into the pot.
  4. Pour in the Merlot, followed by the brandy, maple syrup, and spices, stirring to combine.
  5. Increase the heat to medium and warm the mixture without boiling, about 4-5 minutes.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, taste, and adjust sweetness with more maple syrup if desired.
  7. Let it sit for up to another 5 minutes for the spices to infuse if you want it spicier.
  8. Serve in mugs, garnish, and enjoy.
