Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • 1 ½ cups granulated coconut sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup white whole-wheat flour

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 325º F and line an 8" square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. 2. Set up a double boiler and combine the butter, coconut oil, cocoa powder, coconut sugar, and salt in a heat-proof bowl over simmering water.
  3. 3. Stir until melted and warm, then let it cool slightly.
  4. 4. Stir in the vanilla extract and add the eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
  5. 5. Add the flour and stir until fully incorporated.
  6. 6. Spread the thick batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  7. 7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  8. 8. Let cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
