Baked Italian Herb Tofu

Ingredients

The marinade

  • 2 tablespoons liquid aminos
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • a dash freshly ground black pepper

The tofu

  • 1 15-ounce package extra-firm tofu
  • to taste salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the marinade ingredients in a small baking dish.
  2. Add the tofu slices to the baking dish and marinate for 30 minutes, turning halfway through.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400ºF.
  4. Transfer the marinated tofu slices to a lined baking sheet.
  5. Rub any remaining marinade onto the tofu and sprinkle with salt.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes for softer tofu or 40 minutes for chewier tofu, flipping halfway through.
