Ingredients

The turkey tacos

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 small yellow or red onion, chopped
  • 8 oz fire roasted green chilies
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • 1 Tablespoon lime juice
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 8 corn tortillas
  • as needed oil for the pan

Toppings

  • as needed chopped bell pepper
  • as needed fresh cilantro
  • as needed avocado crema

Avocado crema

  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 small ripe avocado
  • ½ cup mayo or sour cream
  • a pinch chili powder (optional)
  • to taste sea salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Sauté the onion and ground turkey for 2 minutes.
  3. Mix in the spices and green chiles, then sauté for about 10 more minutes until cooked through.
  4. Add lime juice and season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
  5. While the turkey cooks, prepare the avocado crema by blending all its ingredients together.
  6. Warm the tortillas in a pan or oven to make them pliable.
  7. Fill each tortilla with the turkey mixture and top with avocado crema and other toppings.
