Ingredients

Taco Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • teaspoons ground cumin
  • ¾ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • to taste none salt
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Taco Filling

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • to taste none salt and freshly ground black pepper

Taco Toppings

  • to serve none corn or flour tortillas
  • to taste none shredded lettuce
  • to taste none diced tomatoes
  • to taste none sour cream
  • to taste none shredded cheddar cheese
  • to taste none avocados, pitted, peeled, and diced

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the chili powder, cumin, paprika, coriander, cayenne pepper, and salt in a small bowl. Add cornstarch if desired.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the onion and cook until softened.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning, garlic, and oregano until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground turkey and cook until almost cooked through but still slightly pink.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the meat hot with tortillas and desired toppings.
