Instructions
- Prepare the sponge by mixing sugar, oil, and scalded milk; let it sit until warm.
- Add flour and yeast to the sponge mixture and mix until no dry streaks remain.
- Cover and let the sponge rise until puffy, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Incorporate additional flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into the sponge mixture.
- Mix until the dough is cohesive and smooth, then let it rise until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, and cardamom over the butter.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into 12 pieces.
- Place the rolls on a baking pan, cover, and let them rise until puffy.
- Bake at 350°F for 18-25 minutes until golden.
- Prepare the icing by mixing cream cheese and butter, then add salt, milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar.
