Ingredients

The churro dough

  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup water
  • 3 Tbsp butter, diced
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • vegetable oil for frying

Cinnamon sugar coating

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a heavy-bottom pot to 360°F.
  2. In a saucepan, combine milk, water, butter, sugar, and salt, and bring to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and flour until smooth.
  4. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe small lengths into the hot oil.
  5. Fry until golden brown, stirring occasionally, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Toss warm churros in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon to coat.
