Churros with Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients

Churros

  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
  • vegetable cooking oil for frying

Cinnamon Sugar

  • cup granulated sugar
  • teaspoons ground cinnamon

Chocolate Sauce

  • oz milk chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and set aside.
  2. Line a tray with parchment paper.
  3. Heat the water, sugar, salt, and butter in a saucepan until boiling, then turn off the heat and stir in the flour until a dough forms.
  4. Let the dough cool slightly, then pipe it onto the tray in desired shapes.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a pot to 375°F (190°C) and fry the churros until golden brown.
  6. Drain the churros on kitchen towels and roll them in the cinnamon sugar.
  7. For the chocolate sauce, heat the cream until boiling and pour it over the chopped chocolate, stirring until melted.
  8. Serve the churros warm, drizzled with chocolate sauce or for dipping.
