Ingredients

The cauliflower wings

  • 1 small head cauliflower, chopped into florets (~4 cups)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • teaspoon salt

The sauce

  • 2.5 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • 5 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400ºF and prepare a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Wash and pat dry the cauliflower, then cut it into bite-sized florets.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs to create an egg wash.
  4. In a large bowl, mix breadcrumbs, sesame seeds, ground ginger, garlic powder, and salt for the breading.
  5. Dip each cauliflower floret into the egg wash, ensuring it is fully coated.
  6. Coat each floret in the breadcrumb mixture and place them on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake the cauliflower florets for 15 minutes.
  8. Flip the florets and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  9. While the wings bake, prepare the sauce by whisking together chili garlic sauce, soy sauce, fresh grated ginger, and honey in a large bowl.
  10. Once the wings are done, let them cool for 5 minutes, then toss them in the sauce before serving.
