Ingredients

The eggs

  • 4 eggs large eggs

The cooking water

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • enough water to cover the eggs

Instructions

  1. Place the eggs in a pot and cover them with water.
  2. Add baking soda to the water.
  3. Poke a small hole in the bottom of each egg.
  4. Bring the pot to a boil with the eggs inside.
  5. Once boiling, remove the pot from heat and cover it.
  6. Let the eggs sit for about 9-12 minutes, depending on desired doneness.
  7. Prepare an ice bath while the eggs are cooking.
  8. Transfer the eggs to the ice bath immediately after the time is up.
  9. Let the eggs cool in the ice bath for at least 5 minutes before peeling.
