Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound hot or sweet Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, cut into ¾-inch pieces
  • 1 25-ounce jar tomato sauce
  • cups water
  • 1 pound ziti
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in the pressure cooker over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Add sausage, onion, and bell pepper; cook until sausage is no longer pink.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, water, and ziti.
  4. Lock the lid and bring to high pressure over medium-high heat; cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Quick release pressure and carefully remove the lid.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until pasta is tender, stirring often.
  7. Stir in basil and season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
