Ingredients

The pasta

  • 12 ounces whole-wheat pasta noodles

The sauce

  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 unit shallot
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 pound raw shrimp
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup chicken stock
  • 3 Tablespoons white wine
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon zest

Toppings

  • to taste unit chopped fresh parsley
  • to taste unit freshly-grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente.
  2. In a large pan, heat butter and sauté shallot and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add shrimp and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, cooking until pink.
  4. Stir in chicken stock, wine, lemon juice, and lemon zest, cooking for an additional minute.
  5. Drain the pasta and serve topped with the shrimp mixture and desired toppings.
