Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup water
  • to taste sweetener
  • ¼-½ tsp ground or fresh grated ginger
  • ¼ cup cocoa or cacao powder
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2-3 ginger candies (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk and water in a saucepan until simmering.
  2. Reduce heat and whisk in cocoa powder, sea salt, and ginger until well combined.
  3. Continue heating for about 3-5 minutes until hot enough.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Rub ginger candies along the rims of serving mugs.
  6. Pour in the hot cocoa and add toppings like coconut cream, whipped cream, or marshmallows.
