Ingredients

The meat mixture

  • lbs. hot Italian sausage
  • cup Crystal Farms® Wisconsin Sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded then finely chopped
  • cup Italian seasoned panko bread crumbs
  • 1 medium farm fresh egg
  • 1 slice wheat bread, torn into small pieces
  • 1 small handful Italian flat leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • ¼ tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp. grana padano cheese, grated
  • ¼ tsp. oregano
  • to taste salt and pepper

The topping

  • cup Crystal Farms® shredded Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except for the Mozzarella cheese and mix gently with your hands until well combined.
  3. Roll about one tablespoon of the meat mixture into a ball and place on a non-stick baking mat on a baking sheet, ensuring space between each ball.
  4. Top each meatball with a small amount of shredded Mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake for about 12 minutes or until fully cooked.
  6. Let them cool for 1-2 minutes, then insert a toothpick into each bite and serve hot.
