Ingredients

The meatloaf

  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ¼ cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • ¾ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ tablespoon beef bouillon powder
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ¾ cup milk
  • to taste salt

The glaze

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Heat oil in a saucepan and sauté onion, garlic, and bell pepper for 1-2 minutes, then let it cool.
  3. In a bowl, combine ground beef, parsley, breadcrumbs, egg, thyme, white pepper, cayenne pepper, Worcestershire sauce, beef bouillon, and the cooled onion mixture.
  4. Add milk and salt, and mix until combined.
  5. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking pan or loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  7. Mix ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar for the glaze and brush it over the meatloaf.
  8. Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes until cooked through.
  9. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
