The batter

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C) and prepare a loaf pan by buttering and flouring it.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine the mashed bananas, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and add walnuts on top if desired.
- Bake for about 60 minutes or until golden brown and a tester comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before removing it from the pan.
