Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add bratwursts in a single layer and brown for 3-4 minutes on one side.
- Flip the sausages, add sliced onions, and brown for another 3-4 minutes.
- Stir sausages and onions, cooking for another 3-4 minutes until browned and onions caramelize.
- Mix in celery seed, caraway seed, pepper, and brown sugar, cooking until onions are golden and tender.
- Add apple cider vinegar and mustard, stirring to combine.
- Pour in the sparkling apple cider, bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low for 10 minutes.
- Increase heat to medium, remove cover, and simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes until reduced and syrupy.
- Remove sausages and keep warm, optionally finishing on the grill.
- Add sauerkraut to the pan and heat thoroughly.
- Serve sausages on buns with caramelized onions and sauerkraut.
