Ingredients

The batter

  • 2 eggs eggs

  • ¼ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (ground)
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • cups whole-wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • teaspoon salt

For serving

  • to taste pure maple syrup (warmed)
  • to taste fruit

Instructions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter, honey, cinnamon, and baking soda until combined.
  3. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt, whisking until large lumps disappear.
  4. Grease the waffle iron with butter and ladle batter onto the center of the iron.
  5. Cook according to your waffle maker's instructions, usually about 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Keep waffles warm until all are cooked, then serve with maple syrup and fruit.
