Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a 9-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the melted butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth, then add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until mixed, then fold in the chocolate chips.
- Press the dough into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
- Bake for 32-35 minutes until lightly browned and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the bars cool in the pan for at least an hour before lifting them out and cutting into squares.
