Ingredients

Dough & Filling

  • 2 teaspoons Platinum Yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blend
  • cups bread flour
  • cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup chopped pepperoni

Topping

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped pepperoni
  • optional uncooked ground Italian sausage
  • optional ⅓ cup chopped green pepper
  • optional 2 Tablespoons sliced black olives

Garlic Herb Butter for Brushing

  • 2 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • optional pizza sauce, chopped fresh basil, crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast and sugar in a bowl, then add warm milk and let sit until frothy.
  2. Mix in melted butter, egg, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning, then gradually add bread flour until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 60-90 minutes).
  5. Prepare a baking pan and mix mozzarella cheese and pepperoni for the filling.
  6. Punch down the dough, shape into balls, and stuff with the cheese and pepperoni mixture.
  7. Place the stuffed dough balls in the prepared pan and let rise again until puffy (about 30-45 minutes).
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and bake the rolls for 20 minutes.
  9. Add more cheese and pepperoni on top and return to the oven for an additional 12-15 minutes.
  10. Brush with garlic herb butter before serving.
