Ingredients

Dough and Filling

  • 1 recipe homemade pizza dough
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • cup pizza sauce
  • to taste Italian seasoning or ground basil
  • to taste garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 60–65 slices pepperoni

Optional Ingredients

  • ½ cup yellow cornmeal
  • extra amount mozzarella cheese
  • to taste fresh basil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pizza dough and punch it down to release air bubbles.
  2. Divide the dough in half and roll each half into a rectangle, about 10x12 inches.
  3. Brush the tops of the dough with olive oil and make dents with your fingers.
  4. Spread pizza sauce on each rectangle and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
  5. Add shredded mozzarella and pepperoni on top, then roll the dough into tight logs.
  6. Chill the logs in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and prepare baking sheets.
  8. Cut each log into 12 slices and dip the bottoms in cornmeal if desired.
  9. Place the rolls on the baking sheets and sprinkle with extra cheese if desired.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly browned, then cool for 5 minutes before serving.
