Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and salt, stirring until the salt is dissolved.
- Gradually add the areparina to the water mixture, stirring until a loose dough forms.
- Let the dough rest covered with a towel for 5 minutes.
- Divide the dough into large handfuls and roll each into a ball.
- Flatten each ball into a disc about ½-inch thick, ensuring the edges are smooth.
- Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add a little oil.
- Cook the arepas for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer the cooked arepas to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes until puffed and golden.
- Let them cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
