Ingredients

The beef

  • 1 to 1 ½ pounds flank or sirloin steak, sliced thin
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

The aromatics

  • 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger or ginger paste
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced

The vegetables

  • 4-6 cups chopped broccoli florets

The noodles

  • 3 ½ cups chicken broth, low-sodium
  • 4 packages ramen noodles (3 ounces each), flavoring packets discarded

The sauce

  • cup soy sauce, low sodium
  • ¼ cup hoisin or oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Pat the beef dry and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Combine the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil and sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook the beef in a single layer until browned, then remove it from the skillet.
  5. Add ginger and garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant.
  6. Add broccoli and chicken broth to the skillet.
  7. Break ramen noodles into chunks and add to the skillet, simmering until tender.
  8. Return the beef to the skillet, add the sauce, and stir to combine.
  9. Cook for a few more minutes to heat through and serve immediately.
