Ingredients

The beef and vegetables

  • 1-1½ pounds flank steak
  • 4-6 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic

The noodles

  • 6-9 oz cooked noodles (ramen preferred)

The sauce

  • ½ cup soy sauce or liquid aminos
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar or sweetener
  • ½ tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ tablespoon cold water

The seasonings

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (or olive oil, avocado oil, or butter)

Instructions

  1. Season the steak with smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and add the beef.
  3. Cook the beef for 3-6 minutes until no longer pink, then set aside.
  4. Add broccoli and garlic to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until tender, then set aside.
  5. In the skillet, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar, stirring until dissolved.
  6. Mix cornstarch with cold water in a bowl until smooth, then add to the sauce and stir until thickened.
  7. Return the cooked beef, broccoli, and noodles to the skillet and stir to combine, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
