The asparagus

  • 1 lb asparagus

The seasoning

  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 1 tbs balsamic vinegar or lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Trim the tough bottom part off the asparagus spears.
  3. Place the asparagus in a baking dish in a single layer.
  4. Pour the olive oil over the asparagus and spread it around to cover evenly.
  5. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Cook for 18 to 20 minutes, or until just tender.
  7. Sprinkle with balsamic vinegar or lemon juice if desired.
