Ingredients

The cake

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

Optional topping

  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
  3. In a mixer, beat butter and sugar until smooth, then add eggs, sour cream, and vanilla, mixing until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture while mixing on low speed, then slowly pour in the milk and mix until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 60-75 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Cool the cake in the pan for at least 1 hour before removing.
  9. For the optional topping, melt chocolate chips and peanut butter together, then drizzle over the cooled cake.
