Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups mashed overripe banana
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 oz chocolate chips or bittersweet chocolate, chopped finely

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C) and prepare a loaf pan.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then whisk to combine.
  3. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs one at a time.
  4. Mix in the mashed banana, sour cream, and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture until well mixed, then stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50-60 minutes.
  7. Cool the bread in the pan for 8-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
