Ingredients

Streusel

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • teaspoon nutmeg
  • teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup + 1 all-purpose flour

Cake

  • ½ cup + 2 all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon + 1/8 baking powder
  • teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 7x5-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add melted butter and combine well, then stir in flour and refrigerate.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beating until combined.
  5. Mix in sour cream, then alternate adding the flour mixture and milk until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and sprinkle the streusel mixture on top.
  7. Bake for 28 to 34 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few crumbs.
  8. Cool for at least 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
