Ingredients

The sushi rice

  • 1 cup sushi rice
  • cups water
  • 1 tablespoon Japanese rice vinegar
  • ½ tablespoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • to taste toasted white sesame

The filling

  • 3 oz artificial crab meat
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 squirt lemon juice
  • 1 small cucumber
  • 1 medium avocado

Condiments

  • to taste soy sauce
  • to taste wasabi
  • to taste pickled sushi ginger

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice until the water runs clear, then cook it with water in a rice cooker.
  2. Once cooked, let the rice cool and mix in rice vinegar, sugar, and salt.
  3. Prepare the crab meat by mixing it with mayonnaise and lemon juice.
  4. Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo mat and spread a thin layer of rice over it.
  5. Sprinkle sesame seeds on the rice, then flip the nori over.
  6. Add cucumber, avocado, and crab mixture on top of the nori.
  7. Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat and trim the ends.
  8. Slice the roll into 5-6 pieces and serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
