Ingredients

The nuts

  • 2 ½ cups unsalted mixed nuts

The seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix together the sugars, paprika, cumin powder, black pepper, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a heavy skillet and cook the nuts for about 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously.
  3. Sprinkle the sugar and spice mixture over the nuts and continue cooking for about 8-10 minutes until the sugar caramelizes, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  4. Transfer the nuts to a large cookie sheet or platter to cool, then serve.
