Candied Spiced Nuts

Ingredients

The nuts

  • 1 cup raw pecans
  • 1 cup raw walnuts

The seasoning

  • Tbsp melted coconut oil or olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp coconut sugar (plus more for topping)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup (divided)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C).
  2. Place pecans and walnuts on a baking sheet and add oil, coconut sugar, cinnamon, cayenne, nutmeg, salt, and half of the maple syrup.
  3. Toss the nuts to coat them evenly.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until golden brown and fragrant.
  5. Remove from the oven and drizzle with the remaining maple syrup.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle with more salt, cinnamon, and coconut sugar.
  7. Stir to combine and enjoy warm or let cool completely before storing.
