Homemade Pancakes

Ingredients

The batter

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

For serving

  • to taste butter
  • to taste maple syrup or fresh fruit and whipped cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg, and melted butter; mix until smooth.
  3. Heat a griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat, greasing if desired.
  4. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately ¼ cup for each pancake.
  5. When bubbles start to form on the first side, carefully flip and brown the second side.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batter to make about 8 pancakes.
  7. Serve hot with butter and maple syrup or fresh fruit and whipped cream.
