Pecan Apple Crisp

Ingredients

The filling

  • 6 apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

The topping

  • 1 cup blanched almond flour
  • cup coconut sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon celtic sea salt
  • ½ cup palm shortening
  • cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Place the sliced apples and lemon juice in a 7 x 11 inch baking dish.
  3. In a food processor, combine almond flour, coconut sugar, and salt.
  4. Pulse in the palm shortening until combined.
  5. Very briefly pulse in the chopped pecans.
  6. Sprinkle the topping over the apples in the baking dish.
  7. Cover the dish with tin foil and bake for 40-50 minutes until juices are bubbling.
  8. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F and bake for an additional 8-15 minutes, watching closely to brown the top of the crisp.
  9. Serve warm.
