Ingredients

  • 3 slices bacon
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bottle chili sauce (like Heinz)
  • ¼ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup apple juice
  • 8 pack high-quality beef hot dogs
  • 8 buns hot dog buns
  • to taste desired toppings (shredded cheese, chopped onions, extra sauce)

Instructions

  1. Fry the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, then drain on paper towels, leaving drippings in the pan.
  2. Sauté the minced onion and garlic in the bacon drippings until tender and fragrant.
  3. Add the chili sauce, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, crumbled bacon, and apple juice to the pan and bring to a boil.
  4. Add the hot dogs to the sauce, reduce heat, and cook for 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens and the hot dogs are heated through.
  5. Serve immediately or transfer to a slow cooker set to low. Top with shredded cheese and chopped onions.
