Ingredients

The Hot Dogs

  • 6 pieces all-beef hot dogs
  • 6 pieces hot dog buns
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds

The Toppings

  • 3 pieces dill pickles, cut into wedges
  • 2 pieces tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • ½ small yellow or white onion, peeled and diced
  • 6 pieces sport peppers or pepperoncini peppers
  • 3 tablespoons sweet relish
  • to taste yellow mustard
  • to taste celery salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the hot dog buns on the baking sheet and brush the tops with the beaten egg, then sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  3. Bake the buns in the oven for 5 minutes and set aside.
  4. Boil water in a medium pot, add the hot dogs, cover, and let them stand for 5 minutes.
  5. Assemble the hot dogs in the buns, adding yellow mustard, diced onion, sweet relish, pepperoncini, tomatoes, dill pickle, and a pinch of celery salt.
  6. Serve immediately.
