  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Chocolate Chip Cookie Layer

  • 6 tablespoons salted butter, softened
  • cup granulated sugar
  • cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9.5-inch deep pie plate.
  2. For the brownie layer, melt the butter and chocolate chips in a microwave, stirring until smooth.
  3. Mix in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined, then add eggs and vanilla.
  4. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and optional chocolate chips until no dry streaks remain.
  5. Spread the brownie batter in the prepared pie plate.
  6. For the cookie layer, cream together butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt until light and creamy.
  7. Add the egg and vanilla, mixing until well combined, then stir in flour and chocolate chips.
  8. Dollop the cookie dough over the brownie batter without spreading it.
  9. Bake for 25-35 minutes until the cookie layer is golden and the center is soft but set.
  10. Serve warm or at room temperature, preferably with ice cream.
