Ingredients

  • 1 pound butter, preferably grass-fed

Instructions

  1. Place the unwrapped butter in a medium light-colored saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Let the butter melt completely, observing the phases of foaming and bubbling.
  3. Once the butter turns a bright lemony yellow, continue heating until it becomes brown and emits a nutty fragrance.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Skim off any solids on top and pour the ghee through cheesecloth or a paper towel-lined sieve.
  6. Store the ghee in an airtight container at room temperature, away from light.
