Homemade Marinara Sauce

San Marzano tomatoes

extra virgin olive oil

Instructions
- Crush the tomatoes in a mixing bowl with your hands and set aside.
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat and sauté the onions until softened.
- Move the onions to one side of the pan, add the garlic to the other side, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and olive oil to the pot, season with salt, and add the basil.
- Bring the mixture to a light boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until thickened.
- Remove the basil and serve the sauce warm with pasta, topped with cheese and basil.
