Ingredients

The meat patties

  • 450 g grass-fed ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • 2 tsp capers
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • ¾ tsp Himalayan salt
  • 1 large egg

The veggies

  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 227 g mushrooms, sliced

The sauce

  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup coconut aminos
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp ground white pepper
  • tsp ground clove

Instructions

  1. Combine all meat patty ingredients in a large mixing bowl and knead until evenly mixed.
  2. Divide the mixture into 3 or 4 equal portions and shape into oval patties.
  3. Melt ghee in a skillet over medium-high heat, then cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Remove the patties and lower the heat to medium-low. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  5. Add mushrooms, salt, and pepper to the onions and cook until soft and golden, about 5 minutes.
  6. Mix sauce ingredients in a measuring cup until well combined.
  7. Return the meat patties to the skillet and pour the sauce over them.
  8. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer uncovered for about 25 minutes until the sauce thickens and the meat is cooked through.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.
