Easy Homemade Salisbury Steak

Ingredients

The patties

  • 1 lbs ground beef
  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • 1 each egg
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

The gravy

  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 each onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ¼ cup coconut aminos
  • 2 tbsp arrowroot starch
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • optional chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Combine the beef, almond flour, egg, salt, pepper, and ¼ cup of beef broth in a bowl and mix well to form 5 large patties.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked to your liking. Remove from the skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes, then add the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix the remaining beef broth, coconut aminos, arrowroot starch, tomato paste, garlic powder, onion powder, and mustard powder until well combined.
  5. Pour the broth mixture into the skillet, scraping the bottom to incorporate any browned bits, and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and let it thicken for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Return the beef patties to the skillet, nestling them in the gravy, and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  7. Serve the patties topped with gravy and optional parsley.
