Ingredients

The dough

  • ½ cup butter, softened to room temperature
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 unit egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

The mix-ins

  • ½ cup roughly-chopped macadamia nuts
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips
  • to taste unit flaky sea salt, such as Maldon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla, mixing until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt, then mix into the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in the chopped macadamia nuts and white chocolate chips.
  6. Shape the dough into balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle each dough ball with flaky sea salt.
  8. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 10-20 minutes.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and the centers look slightly undercooked.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
