Ingredients for Stovetop Method

  • 1 cup wild rice
  • 3 cups water or broth
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Ingredients for Instant Pot Method

  • 1 cup wild rice
  • 1⅓ cups water, veggie broth or chicken stock
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Boil water or broth in a medium saucepan.
  2. Add wild rice, salt, and olive oil to the boiling liquid and stir.
  3. Cover and reduce heat to low, maintaining a gentle simmer for 35 minutes.
  4. Check the tenderness of the rice; if not tender, simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  5. Drain the rice using a fine mesh strainer for 5 minutes before serving.
  6. For Instant Pot, rinse and drain the wild rice.
  7. Combine wild rice, water or broth, salt, and olive oil in the Instant Pot.
  8. Pressure cook on high for 30 minutes, then naturally release for 10 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
