Beer Brats

Ingredients

The brats

  • uncooked brats bratwurst

The beer mixture

  • 1 bottle beer
  • 1 whole onion
  • ΒΌ cup beer mixture
  • 1 optional jalapeno

The peppers and onions

  • 1 whole onion
  • 2 whole bell peppers

Instructions

  1. Smash one whole onion and add it to a saucepan with a bottle of beer, simmer for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare the grill for indirect heat, placing the brats on the cooler side.
  3. Slow cook the brats for 20 to 40 minutes, turning occasionally without piercing the skin.
  4. Once the brats start to wrinkle, drop them into the saucepan with the beer and onion mixture for a few seconds to rehydrate.
  5. For peppers and onions, cut them up and place them in a foil pouch with some of the beer mixture, then place it on the grill.
  6. After cooking, you can use the beer mixture with cheese and milk to create a cheese soup.
