Ingredients

The Cherry Filling

  • 5 cups sweet or sour cherries, pitted
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon pure almond extract

The Topping

  • 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

For Serving

  • to taste vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or yogurt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and prepare a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, combine the filling ingredients and pour into the baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix the topping ingredients and sprinkle over the cherries.
  4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  5. Let it stand for 10 minutes before serving warm.
