Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 ½ cups light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking pan with foil and nonstick spray.
  2. Mix flour and salt in a bowl and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar, stirring over medium heat until melted and combined.
  4. Cook the mixture for about one minute until it bubbles, then let it cool for 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla into the cooled mixture.
  6. Add the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
