Slow Cooker Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup carrots, finely chopped
  • 1 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons chopped garlic
  • 2 ounces fresh basil, sliced
  • ½ ounces fresh thyme, whole stems
  • ½ ounces fresh oregano, whole stems
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 56 ounces crushed tomatoes, no salt added
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients into a slow cooker.
  2. Cook on high for 2-3 hours, checking occasionally.
  3. If the sauce is too watery, remove the lid to allow some liquid to evaporate.
  4. Remove thyme and oregano stems before serving.
  5. Serve over pasta or as a dip.
