bone-in pork shoulder (aka pork butt or Boston butt)
The seasoning

natural liquid smoke flavor (mesquite or hickory)

Hawaiian salt, Himalayan salt, or sea salt

vegetable oil (optional)
Instructions
- If using, heat vegetable oil in a large pot and sear the pork roast on both sides.
- Place the pork in a slow cooker and drizzle with liquid smoke.
- Season both sides of the pork with salt.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 14 to 16 hours until tender.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker, shred it, and discard the bone and excess fat.
- Toss the shredded pork with some of the reserved liquid from the slow cooker before serving.
