Slow Cooker Kalua Pork

Ingredients

The pork

  • 2 to 3 lb trimmed pork shoulder blade roast

The seasoning

  • 1 tbsp liquid mesquite smoke
  • to taste none coarse red Hawaiian sea salt

Instructions

  1. Place the pork in the crock pot and stab it all over with a knife.
  2. Rub sea salt all over the pork.
  3. Drizzle liquid smoke over the pork.
  4. Set the crock pot to low and cook for about 12 to 16 hours until the meat is tender.
  5. Remove the pork from the crock pot and place it on a large platter.
  6. Shred the pork with two forks, discarding any fat and reserving some liquid to keep it moist if needed.
